I had to borrow a couple of symbols from a non-standard font so the puzzle can be found in image form here[^] (7, 9).
Edit: So I just posted what I thought was an amusing little puzzle. I didn't expect some kind of Spanish Inquisition[^]!
Hint 1: Try toying around with the idea of flexibility
Hint 2: If your childhood coincides with the 70s or 80s you might have been gifted this gifted one
Hint 3: whose story is told in the 2nd word at index 0, 2, 6, 7 & 8?
Answer: STRETCH ARMSTRONG
Even though the repeated characters from the first word were a bit distracting I really expected someone to spot ARMSTRONG straight away (No. 1, astronaut, down, moon, Apollo command module - how hard can it be?) leaving only the right first word to discover - a quick Google would have revealed the relevance of the trademark hero (hence the medal) being pulled apart, I thought in my innocence.

The argument is not about no rules/some rules. It's about too many rules. There are enough rules already there doesn't have to be another one about linking to outside websites.

I agree, i think the rules we have are sufficient. But since outside links are not that good for some of us (Ads on work and stuff) i guess one can critisise that, without getting a bloody nose?

Well I did not see the FSOW yesterday. But with external link, many working in Office cannot see. It gets blocked.

In fact, they encourage you to use anything, except binary.

Well you are right, but since the examples and the "characterlimit" referr to letters or symbols i guess pictures are kind of out the game, it's a gray zone though.

It's not pictures. Yesterday's was pictures. It's simply an image of the characters as they appeared in my word processor but would not show here because I included a couple of characters from a dingbat font.

I'm not sure the Lounge would survive without external links. They're in just about every original post! It seems odd to object to them for this puzzle when no such objection is raised for everything else. The problem would go away entirely if we were allowed to post images (as in just about every other forum in the Universe) but the hamsters are dead set against it.
