I'm biting my lip and sitting on my hands.
I bought a keyboard, I hate about a year ago and it was expensive, not as much as the das but enough I can't justify buying another...damn...damn...damn.

I need to get an ebay account set up to sell some of the spare equipment I have.
But right now I'm just too busy. I've got a couple of outside projects I've got to get done before the really hot weather gets here.

I like mine as well.
My only criticism is the Num Lock LED is seriously bright: when I turn the PC on in the morning it still glares in my eyes every damn time.

Got mine about 9 or 10 years ago and keeps working like a charm.
Too bad they don't have a "lease" program where you could return the old one and get a newer model. Mine is a very sober Model S and I so wish one of the newer more colorful models.

greetings kind regards
may i please inquire re/ laptops i.e. is it necessary to utilize a hand held mouse or is the integral touch pad sufficient for coding . i have only ever utilized a desktop PC .
thank you kindly

A touchpad is supposed to do the same things as a mouse, so you should be able to rely on it alone. However, I find them a real pain to use and greatly prefer a mouse.

Sufficient, yes. Optimal? Well that depends. Where do you naturally rest your thumbs? Some people find that they're accidentally triggering mouse events because their thumbs make contact with the track-pad. If you're used to a separate mouse, you may find that its preferable to attach a mouse to your laptop. And maybe even disable the track-pad when a mouse is attached. That way if you want to take your laptop to the coffee shop and just hang out, you can just use the track-pad. If you're in space with a desk, you can pull out your mouse and get a more office-like experience.
But you'll have to try it and see. You may find you're comfortable with the built in track-pad. You may find you despise the thing and only use it when you absolutely have to.

IMHO, it depends on the person.
Persons who like congested spaces feel themselves comfortable with a touchpad, and it's perfectly fine.
Persons who like larger spaces like the mouse, because it moves over a larger area on the table, and this is also perfectly fine.

For me personally, a Touchpad is not an option.
But why you don't simply try it?
You have always the option to connect a mouse if you feel uncomfortable with the touchpad

I'm not a fan of them - I have one on my Surface but I try really hard to not have to use it. Fortunately, it's a touch screen, so most of the things you use a mouse for are fine without it.

I find them awful. They get in the way. My wrists move the cursor, or worse "tap to click" the pad. Luckily Win11 has a feature that will disable the touchpad whenever a mouse is plugged in.

I have had to use the touchpad a lot when I was in the field... I can work with it and I am not specially slow using it, but I still prefer the use of a mouse when I have the place to plug and comfortably use one (that's why I always take two just in case in my bag, just in case).

You can use a touch pad instead of a mouse, but personally I prefer a mouse.

It Takes some getting used to, but I found the touch pad on my laptops fully adequate.

No. They're a lot harder to use than a mouse or trackball (I prefer trackballs). I also prefer the touch screen on my laptop over the trackpad.
In a pinch, the trackpad will work, however.

greetings kind regards
this is not the Ask a Question Forum however i intend to break the rules by asking a question non-the-less of the many multi-skilled individuals here to wit i wish to afix a PVC pipe of length 1m to a flat base of hard plastic so it stands vertically to support an indoor FM antenna on the top . i do not know how to perform the afixation . i can only imagine a glue around the edge of the pipe but am not confident of its' strength . i seek your kind assistance .
thank you kindly

Hardware stores carry a glue for PVC pipe. It's usually blue. I'm pretty sure it sticks to many other plastics too. Plumbers use it a lot on PVC drain and sewer lines.

thank you kindly for the suggestion . however upon viewing https://www.lowes.com/pd/CANTEX-8-fl-oz-Pvc-Cement/1000193073[^] it seems more a sealant then a glue . please note i am assuming glue along exterior of edge of pipe base and along flat base upon which it is intended to stand rather than an internal connection of two pipes one sliding over other as i assume said glue is utilized for .

This is a site for software development, not DIY so your question isn't relevant anywhere here!
I'd be nervous about your idea; 1m is quite long, and the antenna will both add to the length and put the weight right at the top where where it causes the maximum instability - you will need quite a large area / mass of base to prevent it tipping over in a light breeze ...
Glue is certainly an option - but it'll depend on the actual plastic how well it will adhere - a hardware store is probably your best option, but I'd probably make a "plug" for the pipe and secure that to the bottom via screws, then screw the base to the plug instead of using adhesives. That way, if the base proves inadequate, a few seconds with a screwdriver and you can try a bigger, heavier one!
With a good adhesive, you'll probably have to cut the pipe off and that's not easy as you need a smooth, clean, accurate edge to resecure it to a new base. Hand saws don't generally provide that!
