1. The lounge is for the CodeProject community to discuss things of interest to the community, and as a place for the whole community to participate. It is, first and foremost, a respectful meeting and discussion area for those wishing to discuss the life of a Software developer.
The #1 rule is: Be respectful of others, of the site, and of the community as a whole.
2. Technical discussions are welcome, but if you need specific programming question answered please use Quick Answers[^], or to discussion your programming problem in depth use the programming forums[^]. We encourage technical discussion, but this is a general discussion forum, not a programming Q&A forum. Posts will be moved or deleted if they fit better elsewhere.
3. No sys-admin, networking, "how do I setup XYZ" questions. For those use the SysAdmin[^] or Hardware and Devices[^] forums.
4. No politics (including enviro-politics[^]), no sex, no religion. This is a community for software development. There are plenty of other sites that are far more appropriate for these discussions.
5. Nothing Not Safe For Work, nothing you would not want your wife/husband, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your mother or your kid sister seeing on your screen.
6. Any personal attacks, any spam, any advertising, any trolling, or any abuse of the rules will result in your account being removed.
7. Not everyone's first language is English. Be understanding.
Please respect the community and respect each other. We are of many cultures so remember that. Don't assume others understand you are joking, don't belittle anyone for taking offense or being thin skinned.
We are a community for software developers. Leave the egos at the door.
cheers,
Chris Maunder

Hi All,
I am having fun (for me) working on developing a temperature monitor for some bits of kit we have that don't have one, Crack the knuckles, Design the PCB & write the code for the PIC in C on Notepad++... No Intellisense, no way of quickly checking syntax programming like it was meant to be!

Notepad++ is a luxury editor. You should use vi instead.

Then again, my office used to have several thick reference books that were always open and printouts of tech sheets on the hardware and microprocessors I was often working with. How things have changed.

I think I was one the last old school programmers, C (North C) on an Amiga 500 (2 Disk drives & 512K upgrade!). Once you got to be able to translate the 'almost' UNIX error messages , I wasn't too bad...
Visual Studio and the like made us lazy!

Nice. That's how I do it, except I wrote my own little IDE so at least I can compile by clicking a button.
Visual Studio slows me down.

Power shell IDE's are for weaklings!
Off Topic I have written a test routine for some stepper motors that cause them to play the imperial march!

There is a joke in there somewhere, but I'm not going near it in the lounge ...

I had the License Plate Reader 1.0 up and working and noticed in the Install Modules, there was a newer release ALPR 2.1. Knowing I shouldn't run both, I (mistakenly) elected to first uninstall the ALPR 1.0 module then attempt to install ALPR 2.1. ALPR 2.1 is failing to download and now I can't re-install ALPR 1.0 as it is missing from the Install Modules section. How do I get ALPR 1.0 back ? I am on CodeProject AI server 2.0.8. I was using LPR with Blue Iris the last serveral days with a camera I purchased specifically for license plate capture.
In the server logs I get the message "Unable to download module 'ALPR2' from https://www.codeproject.com/KB/articles/5348853/ALPR2-2.1.zip. Error: No bytes downloaded"

Maybe use the Bugs and Suggestions forum or the Q&A for better visibility and response. This is not the right place.

Quick Answers is also not the right place to report missing article downloads.
