The local dialect around here calls 'a slice of bread' what by standard Norwegian is 'a slice of cake'. This goes for dark, whole-grain bread as well.
A 'cake' is called a 'bread'; biscuits - at least some types - may also be called 'bread' (or 'coffee bread').
But if you put a heavy frosting on the cake, or fill it with whipped cream and fruit, then it is no longer a bread, but a 'cake'.
