Let's close off London and leave the rest of it to us provincials, you mean. I think most of the instigators of this are born and bred Londoner.

Arm the police? But if they weren't armed this wouldn't have happened! :sarcasm:

Except that so far, it sounds like they've failed to produce evidence he actually shot at them.
But then I'd expect a measured reaction from you.

Depends who you listen to.
The official line is that it's "copycat opportunistic looters" who were "detected through the use of Police Intelligence".
(Anyone who has met the Met Police knows the last is an oxymoron, and they probably got lucky with a quick look at Facebook...)
There are two sides to the original shooting: the Police are saying nothing except it is being investigated, Tottenham locals are saying the police fired the only shots, and then left his family hanging with no information.
But it looks like we are back to the old days: "Red sky at night, Brixton's alight!"
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

Thats not exactly true if you do a bit of basic research. The police have stated he was shot dead whilst they were attempting to arrest him, during which a police officer was shot, and after which a non police issue weapon was recovered. Lots of family members are saying he was only a nice father and family guy but there are quite a few tweets around suggesting he was exactly what the police are saying he was; a known and recognised gang member very heavily involved in crime.

Every time a criminal gang member (or other scum) gets killed, there's a lot of bawwing about how nice a guy he was.
It's never true.
And I don't understand why people keep repeating that nonsense every time again.

Looters and rioters usually do not need to have a why ; just an excuse.
It happens in every legitimate manifestations against "the regime"; unruly gangs use the occasion to do trouble and force the authorities to strike down with more force.

It's all round my area at the moment . It's totally unjustified, opportunistic criminals using the death of someone at police hands to excuse their actions.
As to the Why, there is a possibility that the police accidentally shot one of their colleagues - initial forensics on the bullet retrieved from the officer's radio show it's 'police standard issue ammo'. It could be they thought the suspect was shooting at them and responded with multiple, fatal shots.
The fact that they've released this information at all is highly interesting, it would be a 2 second job to compare the ammo in the guys handgun with whatever the police were using in their MP5's - could well be a massive blunder by CO19.
Whatever though, smashing up where you live and looting doesn't get your point across. Families have been left homeless and what was a deprived area any is even worse now.
The violence across the rest of London last night (Brixton, Enfield, Wood Green, Walthamstow) is completely inexcusable. Just people jumping on the bandwagon, they couldn't care less about the person who's been killed or what his family think, they just want to steal whatever they can get their hands on.

I remember watching the LA riots on TV several years ago. They had on the ground footage of looters ransacking a store. I remember the look on this one gal's face as she ran from the store with an arm full of stolen clothing - she had this big, bright, stupid grin on her face. These were people destroying their own neighborhood.
Months later, leaders in the community are complaining about the lack of businesses in the area. "Why won't anyone open stores here?", they wondered. There seems to be a total disconnect between cause and effect for some people.
It's too bad.

Can't agree more.
In any event why is it that when their kids and friends are killing each other and innocents in the community nary a whisper is heard but as soon as the police get involved the place burns?...

You don't see millionaire's looting and vandalizing their communities markets and stores. Instead you usually see poor people who loot and vandalize their own communities and resources.
Now, the bleeding heart liberals would argue that these kinds of people are products of their environment and are showing their rage against the machine. All I have to say to that is this weekend the ants kept trying to get into my house through the kitchen window. Needless to say, I don't have an ant problem anymore.

Nope - They simply loot pension funds (&etc). Ask those fine people at Enron.
They rob plenty
Then, of course, when you have millions & billions to hire lawyers and lobbiests, the laws can be 'adjusted' to keep your actions from getting you sent to jail. Or give one another big bonuses because you bankrupted your company.
And, of course, let's not forget all of the MD's who commit Medicare fraud - but never seem to do any prison time for the fortunes they steal. But OUCH!, that slap on the wrist really hurts!
This doesn't say what the looter does is OK - but I know who's been sticking a broom handle up our asses. But, we've freedom of choice: they ask us if we'd prefer they twist it to the left or to the right.

Well - that would be well and good, but I suggest you read your post.
You went far beyond the explanation.
For example, there's your typical 'whining conservatives' complaint about "bleeding heart liberals", which relates to you claimed intention how . . . ?

Perhaps you missed this part of your post:

Well, your initial reply to me was:
Post 2:
"Every social and economical group has its retards. This time, I was talking about physical, tangible looting as in hairspray, jewelry, and TV sets.
"
So, I have trouble reconciling your words as written (post 1) and your claim as to what they mean (post 2).

Very true. However, I was trying (obviously failed) to make a point about the immediate, local communities and not white collar crime. Crime is crime no matter who is committing it.
