Another day and another problem with SQL Server uer login and IIS authentication
Going through all those Help/MSDN pages and reading so much concepts behind the scene, is really painful.
Sometimes i think : "OK, I'm not smart enough!"

Doing any sort of admin work with IIS and SQL Server is best learned from experience. Reading the documentation is painful.

Go ahead... Just complete that.
It will help you a lot. You will train others about it after you finish...
Anyway, it is going to make you smart...

Start taking notes, on how you solved which problem. I tend to ran into same set of problems most of the time, when it comes to administration. and most of the times it's the stupid permissions and ports.
And every time it feels like a new problem, mostly I found the solution from my notes. so create a word document and store it somewhere online... it's much better than bookmarking the websites.

Just when you get it figured out the next version of SQL Server/IIS/.Net means it's a constant battle to keep up. I am only now downloading SQL Server 2012 for testing, and have plans to replace IIS 7.5 with IIS 8 on the company web server soon. I'm sure there will be some kinks, just like there was migrating apps through the previous versions of IIS.

Just wondering ... if you are a software developer, why is that important?

Well, at the moment, the Ruby work is paid work, so it's getting a lot of attention.
