Items like RSA SecureID tokens can become A Big Deal if you leave under poor terms. There can also be issues with how you roll over pension or retirement funds. If you don't attend the exit interview, they may resolve to default choices that you may not be able to change after the fact.
During the exit interview, you are still an employee which grants you certain legal rights. Afterward, you're just another schmuck.

Some people would call me a schmuck right now I'll be there. I respect the people I work with too much not to show up. Plus I'm on call till 8am the last day, so I'll have my company laptop with me.

Of course it's not a good idea, Gary. I didn't mean it as serious advice, rather as setup to frightfully hilarious rest of the sentence. But you knew that already. Perhaps I should include smileys.

I once just phoned a company on leaving for work, waiting for a taxi, and just said I wasn't coming back. There were no issues but my laptop which was stolen out of the car the CTO sold me, which itself was stolen.

And my last one I celebrated and drowned my sorrows on the way home, and got drunk enough to to be profane about the Development Manager that let me go. I was a contractor, and the contracting house wasn't too happy about it. I publicly apologised, and ignored the contracting house since. It looks like they have a scheme where they offer you a six month contract (aka probation), with the suggestion of a permanent position after that. Only contract after the six month contract, if successful, becomes a one year contract, and doubt the slaves ever see the benefits of a permanent position.

Don't forget to be nice on your way out... that's what people will remember and you can use them as a reference for any future positions.
Good luck on your new job!

Yesterday, for the the first time I heard a work mate speaking about "saving the data in the NSA store", as an everyday term, a synonym for cloud storage. He didn't make it sound like a political statement or something, just a matter-of-fact based term.
I certainly see no reason to argue against the term (and the general acceptance of it), but I must admit that I didn't expect it to come this soon.

That's pretty funny.
However, I think he's obviously a liberal democrat trying to work a bit of damage control. Given the level of cooperation the major OS manufacturers have given to the government the fact is any digital data stored on any computer is the 'NSA store'. He tried to limit it to the cloud because he's a partisan.

It's not really a left or right wing thing...
Obama likes the NSA, as well as right wingers (didn't this start w/ Bush). Some dems don't like it, true 'conservatives' don't like it.
Oddly it isn't universally supported or hated by either side, but the establishment politicians all seem to like it, and there are more of them than those who oppose it.

Definitely missing from the equation... I remember when I first saw that mug shot, pretty shocking how she'd fallen apart relatively quickly.

In these sort of before and after photos, why is the "after" photo always incredibly low resolution and then further stretched to an even worse size?
