My Downloads directory, like all others is ordered by file name - that's just how I like it. But every so often when I go to view it, it has had its contents grouped by Date modified. So I reset to no grouping and it reverts to 'normal'. And then at some other random time after a download (but not always) it will be grouped again.

It is only mildly annoying but I wonder is it some feature that I am not aware of?

[edit]
following @KornfeldEliyahuPeter 's suggestion I googled and found this: Why does Windows groups Downloads files by date?[^].

Seems to be working ...
