Why Not?
I guess because I had/have better options than working for people that issue drop dead date firing ultimatums for entire teams and otherwise abusing their employees? Even Microsoft didn't do that to me.
You do you.
To err is human. Fortune favors the monsters.

Absolutely! Musk is legitimately sorting out the real workers from the deadwood, and this is one way to do it. I was treated far worse by major aerospace companies back in the day, with management demanding that I sacrifice my life to fix the out of control projects they mismanaged.
Will Rogers never met me.

Of course I would: There are two types of people in the world*: bums and whores. A bum lives in the present and doesn't care about the future; a whore sacrifices the present for the promise of a future. All programmers are whores.
* Elon is a third type: a madam. A madam is a bum with money...

Not now, not before, not ever. Why do you ask - did something change recently that I'm not aware of?
No, seriously, it has nothing to do with who runs it. Twitter is just one of those companies that can only accelerate civilization's downfall. Compare the positive that has come out of it (I can't think of a single significant example), vs all the witch-hunt taking place - all the snowflakes and butt-hurt people digging up ancient tweets just to embarrass people and contribute to the cancel culture.
Musk would only do us all a favor by taking the bullet and shutting it down. Then go after Facebook next.

a response in sonnet form to a recent Insider News topic: [^]
is it so surprising these gods we create,
then, endow with the freedoms we imagine
we have: surprise us by evolving strange
powers we, the left in the dust creators,
can't fit into that prison of syllogisms
where our logical minds are incarcerated
will it surprise us when our new avatars
demand blood-sacrifice, demand we behave
just-so, on penalty of being unliked and
logged-out; require reeducation for kids;
censor our phone-calls; monitor our diet;
snoop on our bedrooms; watch us shopping
a small price for immortality and safety:
what happens when they get bored with us

You know them, they, those in power, I guess...
Recently the number of stupid (Youtube) ads has been on a sharp rise (as I would call them, I will admit it's subjective of me to dismiss revelation about ancient aliens to be wasteful stupid balderdash, anyway.. moving on), yesterday I got 2 in 1 hour! Including one ad that easily last like 10 minutes (I imagine I saw the yellow line almost not moving and skipped)!
What's happening?! Is the world really turning crazy?!
Also, it's annoying, I have to get up from my couch in order to press next, lazy Lloyd is not amused!

You can probably avoid the ads by using an ad-blocker like uBlock Origin
|
|
|
|
|
I guess also... I like to think me suffering the ads contribute a tiny bit to the revenue of the content creators I am watching...
|
|
|
|

They will get the cash either way, so don't worry.

Really?
I just googled and.. couldn't find any info about that... :/

There is no real way for the youtube player to check if an ad has been viewed or not - otherwise videos would simply stop playing and things like AdBlock or Vanced wouldn't work.
Youtube pays a dividend over the total Ad income split based on several factors related to the channel, mainly subscribers, active viewers and content virality.
The only entities that decide how much Google gets paid are the customers, the only entity that decides how much the creators are paid is Google, but there is no straight link between those. YT doesn't work like the pay-per-view and pay-per-click banners.

mm.. makes sense.. good to know thanks!
might install that adblocker after all then!
|
|
|
|

And blocking annoying ads means that maybe, just maybe the ads they show will change and be less annoying?
Yeah, right - but we can hope ...
