|After considerable effort and much re-work, re-design and re-architecting, the apps I have been working on have eventually been released to the app stores (Windows, Android and Apple). The original apps were in fact responsive web pages and were simply iFrames that linked to these web pages. Whilst this was sufficient in the short term to simply get a mobile presence and to be able to tell customers "We have an app", as a long term strategy it was not sufficient. Especially if you wanted to harness any of the native functionality of the devices.
So the decision was taken to completely re-develop the apps in a technology of our choosing. We went for Telerik Platform as it gave us much more than just a development platform.
- a testing platform
- data access
- extensive plugins
- business services platform
- analytics and crash reports
and many other benefits.
Last week we released the apps to the apps stores and customers have been downloading and using them, which is a great feeling.
We still have many features we want to add to the apps, so they are still a work-in-progress. But for now, we're going to let people use them and wait for any feedback we get.
