Why are you installing XP on it? Is the laptop not capable of supporting Windows 7?

This is a dell vostro 1000 and the OS that it came with is XP... therefore and trying to be legal and not to use pirate things... I've decided to go with that...

That is brilliant:
Windows Update does not start in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows 2000
Solution:
Turn on Automatic Updates
So, if you can't get the updater to work, run the updater...

Yes, it looks promising...

There is the "wait an hour before trying again" - I suspect this is the old "turn it off, wait a couple of minutes and turn it back on" support trick: If it work, they think you're brilliant, if it doesn't, someone else will get the call when they call back...

IE8 from IE7 on Windows XP 32-bit? That would be a feat.
(aside)
Have you made sure you're not dealing with a rootkit?

I have communal internet connection wifi only with a login html page.
I have to log in every time is there something I can buy that will stay connected 24/7 like a access point??
|
|
|
|

You can make a script that will login for you automatically in the background... the connection is probably set up to log you off on purpose every so often (probably because they don't want people on 24/7).

Hi, I have a computer that run windows server 2003 as a member server. When it has a single network card, I could access the share resource on that computer. But when I add more 3 physical network card (it become multihome), I could not access share resource on this machine.
I can remote to this machine but I can't apply group policy on that machine or access any share resource.
I already read this article[^] and done it. But nothing help.
Please give me some suggestion.
