Hi All. I run a few businesses and I have a question about time management and work-life balance.
How do those of you that are single manage to work long hours but still find time to go out on dates and catch up with friends?
If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.
Prioritize your friends and family
Set a hard begin/stop on work -- it'll be there the next day, your friend and family may not be.
Government can give you nothing but what it takes from somebody else. A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you've got, including your freedom.-Ezra Taft Benson
You must accept 1 of 2 basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not alone. Either way, the implications are staggering!-Wernher von Braun
Is this question really serious? Someone who can ask such a banal question has time for other things in life. It gets even worse when the questioner also has the time to read the answers. Then this someone has too much time to spare.
Ergo, such a question would not have to be asked.
So basically i am working on this college project and my teammates are just lazy and not at all helping. They are making me do all the work and now I am under a lot of stress and I do not know what to do.
I keep getting stuck and burnt do but there is no one to ask for help...If I am not able to complete the project I might fail for the subject
First of all , I do not want anyone to do "ALL THE WORK". It is my fault for phrasing my question like that which somehow made you get the idea that I need others to do my work for me.
Second of all, that wasn't a demand. Hope you get it..
Anyone who has worked on a project might most probably know that a database design is not "all the work" as you mentioned. It is like 25% of it. I asked that question here since the design I initially made had redundancies and several errors due to which it was rejected. So I was asking for help to know if someone else had a better design idea.
And I am not tasked with designing a db. It is just a small part of the Project that I am working on.
It is not like I dumping a list of requirements and just waiting for someone to do the work.
You might know that if you get the design wrong, you might have to redo the whole thing again. That is why I needed help in the first place. I am not someone who is really experienced or whatever and it was my first time posting a question. I had no idea that my question would come off like a "demand".

How else would you classify that demand?
If you are tasked with designing a database, and someone else hands you a complete database design, how is that not doing all the work for you?
expect us to do all the work for you, you've come to the wrong site
Let me clarify that I DO NOT EXPECT you or even someone else to do the work. I am just asking for ideas.
Feels like I have come to the wrong site, because of some people who are saying things which I did not even mean |||
Don't get it wrong all are here help each other. But none want to do it all by themselves. And it is good to ourselves that they don't do it fully. So we can also learn things by doing it. As with the Project its luck to get a good team. Now when I remember my College project I had a nice team. Especially my Hostel mates we three worked on different things on project. One worked physically, Me and other friend did all the typing work. We discuss the Logic and Flow of the project together. It was a good experience when I recall it now.
my teammates are just lazy and not at all helping. They are making me do all the work
How exactly are they doing that? Are they holding you captive in a cellar and refusing to release you until you write the project? Go to your tutor and explain the situation and ensure that he/she understands that any work you submit will be purely your effort and no one else's.
One tells you off and wastes readers time with rants against the person that is asking for help.
The other one gives you solid advice without degrading you and is potentially helpful to others that read here.
Both have very high numbers indicating that they might be someone of some importance relating to something. But, still one verbally stomps on your head and the other one helps you to stand and take a path to resolution of your problem.
That is this site.
I expect to get a big negative for this answer, but it had to be said.
I will think about your question, and if you give some more information on the size of your data (10 entries, 10,000 entries, ?), and your operating system, and any other information that you think is important, then someone might have some suggestions.
No. It was not a reply to you. It was a reply to Gopika Ravikumar's original post. Not to you. The line of it went to you, and when I saw that I tried to change it but my internet connection locked up.
Richard Deeming said, "Says the person whose only other message on this site is a "do all my work for me" question in the database forum." That is not nice. That is arrogant.
Then when the poster, who seems to think that this is a "helpful" site tried to placate Deeming and received, "But if you turn up and dump a list of requirements and expect us to do all the work for you, you've come to the wrong site." More arrogance from Deeming. I do not care how many points he has. That means nothing as he has proven multiple times in degrading other people that are simply asking for help. Maybe I should have contacted the advertisers on this site and pointed out to them how offensive some memebers like Deeming are. Maybe the advertisers will consider that the negativity transfered to readers is also by association transferred to their product. I have been thinking about that.
I like your posts, generally. You seem to get flustered by new people's questions occationally, but you do not agressively degrade them. I might some day like to meet you and simply listen to what you have to say in general. Have lunch. Sit and listen. That sounds nice.
But, bullies like Deeming, I have a tendency to get in a bully's face, nose to nose. I would cross a room full of people to stand in the face of a bully. I have always been that way.
You can delete my account if you like. It is OK. I have learned what I mostly came here to learn, which was how to break apart files into bits and analyze them for security purposes. I noticed 7 negative 16's on my reputation history today. I guess that means that I have found a bully and am standing in his face, right where I enjoy being.
You guys depend upon advertising revenue. Think about that. If I am to advertise on your site, then it had better be a lot less negative. I come from heavy industry, where there is a lot more money simply in the cash flow than your tiny advertisers that you have now can pay. CFOs that have MBAs are [supposedly] trained like I was in head to head competitive strategies. Advertising on a negative site can preclude a viewer's tendencies toward disliking or at least feeling uncomfortable with any and all that they encounter (like advertising) while perceiving negativity.
Bullies or me. If we are together I will be in their face. Deeming is a bully, like some others that I have encountered here.
It was not a reply to you. It was a reply to Gopika Ravikumar's original post
Er, then why did you click "Reply" in my message.

Richard Deeming is one of the most helpful people on this site. All the points he has earned are because of the quality of his answers. But when we get people here expecting us to do their work, it needs to be pointed out.

No, we are just volunteers so the advertising revenue does not affect what we do.

No he is not, and nor is anyone else. But sometimes (sadly more frequently these days) people come here and expect someone else to do their work while they sit around playing games.
Rude of you to assume that someone else is "playing games". Whoa
In case you don't understand, I don't want anyone else to do my work and I have stated this previously. If you do not wanna help, then don't.
The question at Database design for a project - Database Discussion Boards[^] certainly give the impression that you do. And your original post in this thread complains that your team mates are all lazy, but does not explain what you have done or where you are stuck.
I just gave a basic description of what my work was. It was my fault for phrasing my question like that. It wasn't really my intention to make somebody else do my work or anything.. and this is my first time here so I was just checking if there was someone willing to help. What I got was rude comments, and I stopped coming to this site altogether. So yeah I understand I must be more specific so that some people don't get the wrong impression.
Anyway, the whole thing is over and the problem was solved. So there is no point in further discussion. Have a great day.
