for me smart watches had their opportunity and that was back when calculator watches were the big thing. I am that person however who only wears a wedding ring and on occasion my fraternity ring but aside from that I am happy being jewelry free.
you want something inspirational??

Whist at Uni (~1977-78), I owned an HP01 wristwatch.
Arguably the world's first "smartwatch"
Was the envy of all the geeks.
Not the female ones though. Strange, that.

Got the original Sony one, it's ok, but a watch that you have to turn on to see the time...no, not good enough.

Actually Pulsar was the first to make a watch like that, the Sinclair was a low-rent copy. The Pulsar went for over $2,000 in 1972, which would be over $10,000 now! And yes, you had to push a button to see the time, because the LED drained too much power to be left on all the time. A pretty terrible watch for all that money!

When will we get SmartPeople?
It's an OO world.
public class Sander : Lazy<Person>{
public void DoWork(){ throw new NotImplementedException(); }
}

SmartAss seems to be just around the corner!

I haven't worn a regular watch for twenty years or more. For many years I kept a cheap calculator watch in my pocket, but I stopped caryying that when I got a phone with a calculator.
If I got a smart watch, I'd want to carry it in my pocket. I don't want something around my wrist.

Why not just strap a smart-phone to your arm? Maybe with elastic bands. Better screen than the watch.
I like watches, always have but unless the smart watch can project a screen or interface at least as big as my smart phone I don't see the point.

Only if it replaces my phone 100%, even then a big IF. Or acts as a emergency phone/tracker for my kids in elementary school. This whole "connect to your phone" thing is for the birds.

I hate watches and all kinds of jewels or stuff that are around my wrist or neck or finger... I just can't stand jewels (including watches).
So the day I had a phone which could tell me what time it is, I stopped wearing (or carrying in a Pocket most of the time) a Watch.
