I guess that's why there's so many bad software developers! Communication (yes, interaction with people!) is one of the most important aspects of my job!
The client has a problem and I know what's technically possible, so I may think of a solution.
My boss doesn't like my technical talk, my clients like it even less and I still have to convince both that my solution might actually work!
And once I 'sold' the solution to management I have to tell my colleagues how we're going to solve this problem technically.
Communication is probably the hardest part of my job. And unfortunately the hardest part of other peoples jobs too.
People die because of mis-interaction with people (especially in the technical field)!
Does anyone remember that rocket with people in it that exploded because some programmers used metric while others used imperial?
They probably liked the part about their job where they didn't need to interact with other people...
It's an OO world.

I get to do all that communication stuff through e-mail, the Visual Studio Online Scrummy thingy, Lync and when there's really no choice, by phone.

I have been getting the same number of surveys and it is annoying me now. I need to get a survey, that I might want to get attentive while answering.

... this would be the best job in the world.
On the other hand, I get paid to play with computers all day. How cool is that?

I like coding for all users (even the one who dont read the messages boxes), because I really know my useful software helps them and they enjoy and like our companies product line.

Nah, it's not users, it's managers and budget limits. Without managers and with an infinite budget, I am quite sure that I could meet the needs of every user.

Exactly. At 52, I'm still doing what I was doing when I was 15. (Well, generally speaking.)

And I love playing in it.
As a consultant, yes, I encounter a lot of jobs where I have to [pick up / clean up / continue providing for] existing software, and then there are the gems where I'm hired to architect and implement a brand-spanking-new development effort. Those are my favorite, as I'm not subjected to the necrotic corpse of an existing project, but get to participate in the conception (that's the most fun part, of course) and development of the project.

Those are the times when one gets to artistic or autistic depending on the person.

There's a fine line between crazy and free spirited and it's usually a prescription.
I'm currently unsupervised, I know it freaks me out too but the possibilities are endless.

There are so many:
* You get to enjoy working in the nature.
* Simple pure life style
* Nothink like those evil jobs with slave-like hours and deadlines hampered by the boss
* You actaully help humanity to reduce bad zombyish addictions related to over technologiism.
* What Mehdi Golam stated in the post a couple of lines below...
* and the list goes on
Oh ... wait ... it's not the right poll is it?

The pluses I see:
Fun solving problems,
new things to learn,
nice community (i.e: CP - One of the best places )
casual horary,
enjoying technology
Not so agree:
Pay is good - it depends a lot on company and self-selling skills of the individuals
(potentially) touch millions of people - the more people the more probability to find morons, trolls and/or plain idiots
don't interact with people - it might be a problem if one isolated himself from the world and its tendences / needs
art form - coders with more "artistic" than "pragmatic/practical" feelings can end writing very "beautiful and nice" code that is more a pain in the ass than a solution for a problem

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
